Scholarship Details
The ADB-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was launched in April 1988 through the support of the Government of Japan. Each year, about 135 graduate scholarships are awarded to qualified candidates from ADB developing member countries.
This initiative supports full-time Master’s degree programs at over 29 partner institutions in 10 countries across Asia and the Pacific.

Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the ADB-JSP 2025, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of an ADB borrowing member country eligible for Japanese ODA
- Not hold dual citizenship of a developed country
- Have gained admission to an approved Master’s program at a designated institution
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with a strong academic record
- Have at least two years of full-time work experience (post-university)
- Be proficient in English (oral and written)
- Be under 35 years of age at the time of application (unless exempted)
- Be in good health
- Commit to returning and working in their home country for at least two years after graduation
- Not be staff, close relatives, or consultants of ADB or its designated institutions
- Not reside, work, or study in a country other than their home country at the time of application
- Not already be enrolled in a graduate degree program
