Scholarship Details
The Wildlife Ecology Research team at Arizona State University is currently seeking applications from a highly motivated student interested in pursuing an M.S. degree while participating in active research within the lab.
The research project focuses on examining calling phenology and pathogen prevalence in Lowland Leopard Frogs (Lithobates yavapaiensis) along the San Pedro River in southern Arizona. This project will contribute to ecological research and conservation efforts related to amphibian populations in desert environments.
Successful applicants will participate in a Graduate Services Assistant (GSA) appointment, which involves working 20 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer. Students admitted through this opportunity will enroll in the M.S. program in Applied Biological Sciences (Natural Resource and Wildlife Ecology concentration) within the College of Integrative Sciences and Arts.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Arizona State University Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, environmental or conservation science, or a related field
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate solid quantitative reasoning and data management skills
- Be able to work independently as well as collaboratively
- Be willing to conduct fieldwork in desert environments and aquatic systems
- Have the ability to drive a personal vehicle to field sites (mileage reimbursed; high-clearance vehicle required)
- Be able to begin the programme in person in Mesa, Arizona by May 18, 2026
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants with the following experience may have an advantage:
- Experience with bioacoustic analysis
- Experience handling or identifying herpetofauna or aquatic vertebrates
- Laboratory experience or strong interest in molecular techniques
- Previous independent or collaborative research experience
Scholarship Benefits
Selected candidates for the Arizona State University Scholarship will receive:
- Graduate Services Assistantship appointment
- 20 hours per week during the academic year
- Up to 40 hours per week during the summer
- Annual stipend of $35,000
