The IHE Delft Rotary Scholarships are prestigious, fully funded awards granted every year to selected graduate students studying at the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education in the Netherlands.
The 2026 UNESCO IHE Delft Rotary Scholarship covers full tuition fees, living stipends, travel and visa expenses, and comprehensive health insurance, offering outstanding candidates the opportunity to study in one of Europe’s leading water and sanitation institutions.

Scholarship Details
These scholarships were created to strengthen long-term collaborations between Rotarians and highly skilled water and sanitation professionals across communities. Since the partnership began in 2012, over 150 scholarships have been awarded.
The collaboration between The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and IHE Delft aims to address global water and sanitation challenges by increasing the number of trained professionals capable of designing and implementing sustainable solutions in developing and emerging regions. Each year, scholarships are offered to students admitted into the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development at IHE Delft’s campus in the Netherlands.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the scholarship:
- Applicants must first receive academic admission into the IHE Delft MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development, under one of the following thematic tracks:
- Water and Health
- Water, Food and Energy
- Water Resources and Ecosystems Health
- Water Hazards, Risks and Climate
- After academic admission, local Rotarians will interview and select candidates
- A fully completed application form must be jointly submitted by the sponsoring Rotary Club and the applicant to the Rotary/IHE Delft selection committee
- The Rotary Club must also copy the District Governor and District Rotary Foundation Chair
- Once awarded, sponsoring Rotary Clubs maintain contact with scholars throughout their studies
- Funding is managed through Rotary’s Global Grant process

How To Apply
To apply for this scholarship,
- Apply for admission to the IHE Delft Master’s Programme in Water and Sustainable Development before 1 April 2026
- Early in the process, locate and contact your nearest Rotary Club
- Request nomination from the Rotary Club for the Rotary scholarship
- Complete the application form together with the sponsoring Rotary Club
- The Rotary Club must submit your completed application to the Rotary/IHE Delft selection committee by 15 April 2026
- Applicants will be notified of the outcome by 15 May 2026
- Final approval is subject to endorsement by The Rotary Foundation on 1 July 2026
