Internship Details
The MITACS Globalink Research Internship is a competitive initiative designed to bring top-tier undergraduate students from selected countries to Canada for a 12-week research-based experience. Taking place annually between May and October, participants are paired with faculty members at Canadian universities in disciplines spanning science, engineering, mathematics, humanities, and social sciences.
This internship program not only promotes hands-on academic research but also exposes students to Canada’s vibrant research ecosystem, including world-class laboratories, cutting-edge industries, and professional development platforms. Interns benefit from an enriched cultural and academic exchange, providing a unique and career-defining international experience.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the MITACS Globalink Research Internship, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old at the time of application
- Be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate or combined undergraduate/master’s program at an eligible institution (as defined per country)
- Have one to three semesters remaining in their academic program by fall 2026
- Meet the minimum GPA requirements set for their country of study
- Apply to a minimum of three and a maximum of ten projects, ensuring selections are from at least three different Canadian provinces
- Be fluent in either English or French, depending on the project requirement
- Be available for a 12-week consecutive internship between May 1 and October 31, 2026 (must begin between May 1 and July 31)
- Not have participated in a previous Globalink Research Internship
- Not be affiliated with institutions or bodies listed as Non-Recognized Organizations (NROs) or conducting research in Sensitive Technology Research Areas (STRA)
MITACS reserves the right to decline funding if any affiliations of concern are detected.
