Program Details

The 2026 Google Student Researcher Program is designed to encourage academic collaboration and innovation by involving students in ongoing research projects at Google. The program supports students enrolled in full-time degree programs within the EMEA region, allowing them to return to their academic institutions after completing the research term.

Unlike traditional internships, this program offers room for flexibility in work schedule, duration, and work environment—students may work on-site or remotely depending on project needs. The research tasks are exploratory and open-ended, focusing more on learning and discovery rather than fixed deliverables, giving participants the chance to contribute meaningfully to evolving research directions.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the 2026 Google Student Researcher Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program in any of the following fields: Computer Science, Statistics, Biostatistics, Linguistics, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Economics, Natural Sciences, or related areas.
  • Practical experience in at least one core area such as:
    • Natural Language Processing
    • Human-Computer Interaction
    • Generative Media
    • Computer Vision
    • Machine Learning / Deep Learning
    • Optimization Algorithms
    • Quantum Information Science
    • Software Engineering
    • Data Science

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time degree program in the EMEA region and returning to the institution after the research period.
  • Prior research experience (academic lab, professional role, or internship).
  • Contributions to research publications in journals or reputable academic conferences.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as:
    • Python
    • C/C++
    • Java
    • MATLAB
    • Go
