The National University of Singapore (NUS) is inviting applications for the 2027 Internship and Research Immersion in Singapore (IRIS) programme, a fully funded research internship designed for undergraduate and Master’s students from universities around the world.
The IRIS programme provides participants with the opportunity to work on real research projects under NUS faculty members and gain practical research experience at one of Asia’s leading universities.
The two- to three-month programme includes a monthly stipend, travel allowance, and free on-campus accommodation. Participants will also receive a certificate from NUS Graduate School upon successful completion of the internship.

Scholarship Details
The Internship and Research Immersion in Singapore (IRIS) is a research-focused programme that gives undergraduate and Master’s students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in academic research at NUS.
Selected students are placed in NUS laboratories or research groups, where they work closely with faculty supervisors and contribute to ongoing research projects.
The programme is open to students from all academic disciplines and is designed to help participants develop a deeper understanding of research at a leading global university.
Previous research experience is not necessarily required. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a genuine interest in academic research and have an academic background relevant to their preferred research area.
In addition to research experience, participants get the opportunity to experience student life and the academic environment at NUS in Singapore.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the NUS IRIS Research Internship 2027, applicants must:
- Be currently enrolled full-time in a degree-granting programme at a university.
- Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least the first two years of their undergraduate programme.
- Master’s applicants must be in the first year of their Master’s degree programme.
- Have a minimum overall or major GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Maintain their student status at their home university throughout the entire IRIS programme.
- Not have already graduated from their university before the programme begins.
- Demonstrate a genuine interest in academic research.
- Be from any academic discipline.
Students who are enrolled when applying but graduate before the IRIS programme begins and therefore cannot maintain their student status throughout the programme are not eligible.
