The Japan MEXT Scholarship is one of the prestigious scholarship opportunities available to international applicants seeking admission into the Graduate School of Asia Pacific University (APU). Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Japan MEXT Scholarship at Asia Pacific University, applicants must:
- Be an international student eligible to study in Japan.
- Be a citizen of a country designated by MEXT.
- Be born on or after April 2, 1992.
- Have achieved a minimum GPA of 2.30 on a 3.00 scale at their most recent university.
Important Notes
- Applicants serving on active military duty or employed as military civilians at the time of application are not eligible.
- Successful applicants must be able to arrive in Japan during the period specified by APU.
- Previous MEXT scholarship recipients are only eligible if they have accumulated more than three years of educational or research experience since receiving their last MEXT scholarship payment.
- Applicants cannot apply simultaneously for another MEXT scholarship.
- Scholarship recipients cannot receive another scholarship while studying at APU.
- Successful applicants must obtain and maintain a Student Visa throughout their studies in Japan.

How to Apply

- Submit your application for admission to APU before the November 5, 2026 deadline.
- No additional scholarship application documents are required during the initial application stage.
- APU will evaluate all applications and recommend outstanding candidates to MEXT.
- Shortlisted applicants will be notified after APU completes its admission review.
- Selected candidates will then complete and submit the required MEXT scholarship documents through APU.
- The final scholarship recipients will be selected and announced by MEXT.
