Scholarship Details
The Canon Collins Trust, in partnership with the Ros Moger and Terry Furlong Group (RMTF), is inviting applications for its 2027 postgraduate scholarship programme.
The scholarship was established in memory of Ros Moger and Terry Furlong, two renowned London educators whose legacy continues through funding opportunities for outstanding African students pursuing higher education in South Africa.
For the 2027 academic year, funding will only be awarded to applicants studying within the following fields:
- Justice, including Climate Justice, Law, Economics, and Politics
- Education Policy and Practice
- Humanities, including Literature, History, Anthropology, and the Arts
Applicants are advised to apply only if their chosen programme falls within one of the eligible disciplines.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Canon Collins RMTF Scholarship 2027, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of, or hold refugee status in, one of the following countries:
- Angola
- Botswana
- Lesotho
- Malawi
- Mozambique
- Eswatini (Swaziland)
- Zambia
- Be ordinarily resident in one of the eligible countries.
- Hold, or expect to obtain, a good first degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper (or equivalent).
- Be studying or applying to study at a recognised university in South Africa.
- Carefully read the scholarship guidelines before submitting an application.
Note: Applicants from Namibia, South Africa, or Zimbabwe should instead apply for the Canon Collins Sol Plaatje Scholarship, which is specifically designed for candidates from those countries.

- Scholarship grants ranging from R20,000 to R100,000, depending on individual circumstances.
