The Victoria University of Wellington (VUW) International Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding new international students beginning their studies at the university.
The scholarship is available to eligible students enrolling in full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across any of the university’s campuses. It is designed to support talented international students by reducing the financial burden of tuition while providing access to a world-class education in one of New Zealand’s leading universities.
Recipients will benefit from studying in Wellington, New Zealand’s vibrant capital city, known for its high quality of life, academic excellence, and diverse international community.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Victoria University of Wellington International Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an international student paying full international tuition fees.
- Apply for an undergraduate or postgraduate programme at the Victoria University of Wellington.
- Intend to study:
- A Bachelor’s degree (120, 180, or 240 points),
- A Master’s degree (120, 180, or 240 points), or
- A Postgraduate Diploma (120 points).
- Hold either a conditional or unconditional Offer of Place for an eligible programme at Victoria University of Wellington.
- Be a new student enrolling in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Postgraduate Diploma programme at the university.

Successful applicants will receive:
- Scholarship worth NZ$15,000
- Tuition fee support for the first year of study
- Scholarship applied directly toward tuition fees
- Reduced tuition payment to the university
- One-time scholarship award for eligible students
Important Information
- The scholarship is valid for one year only and applies to the student’s first enrolment in the eligible programme.
- The scholarship is credited directly toward tuition fees and cannot be paid as cash.
- Although applicants may receive multiple admission offers, only one scholarship will be formally awarded.
- The scholarship is confirmed after the student enrols in their first-year courses.
