Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Thomson Foundation Young Journalist Award 2026, applicants must:
- Be 30 years old or younger as of November 25, 2026
- Be from a country with a Gross National Income (GNI) per capita of US$20,000 or less
- Submit a portfolio of three published or broadcast stories
- Ensure the three stories were published or broadcast within the 12 months before August 9, 2026
- Submit stories in print, audio, video, or multimedia format
- Provide a summary of no more than 200 words for each story explaining its content and impact
- Submit entries in English or provide English translations where necessary
- Provide a verification letter
- Ensure all submitted work is free from plagiarism
- Explain any collaboration with external organizations or colleagues on the submitted stories
