The Federal Government has stepped up efforts to modernize education governance through the deployment of a real-time Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard to the Federal Capital Territory Universal Basic Education Board (FCT UBEB).

The initiative, driven through the Nigerian Education Data Infrastructure (NEDI) and implemented by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Education, is designed to improve school monitoring, enhance accountability, and support data-driven decision-making within the basic education sector.

Speaking at the official handover ceremony in Abuja, the Director of Information and Communication Technology at the Federal Ministry of Education, Zainab Abukur, who represented the Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, described the deployment as a major step forward in advancing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for education.

According to her, the Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard will provide education managers and administrators with access to real-time information on school operations and performance through the NEDI platform, enabling more efficient supervision and informed policy decisions.

Abukur noted that the introduction of the digital platform would reduce reliance on frequent physical inspections while ensuring that education authorities have immediate access to accurate and current data needed to strengthen the management of schools.

She explained that the technology would promote quicker evidence-based decision-making, improve transparency, and reinforce accountability across the education system. According to her, the initiative reflects the government’s determination to build a more responsive and efficient education sector that places greater emphasis on learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness.

Receiving the dashboard on behalf of FCT UBEB, the Acting Chairman of the Board, Florence Wenegeme, welcomed the intervention, describing it as both strategic and timely. She stated that the innovation aligns with ongoing efforts to modernise educational administration and improve governance within schools across the Federal Capital Territory.

Wenegeme added that the platform would strengthen internal management processes, improve supervision of schools, and contribute to better service delivery throughout the basic education system. She also applauded the Federal Government for sustaining reforms that harness technology to drive improvements in governance and educational performance.

Following the presentation, a technical team conducted a live demonstration of the dashboard, highlighting its key features and monitoring functions. The demonstration showcased how the platform can support seamless supervision, efficient data collection, and effective management of education-related information.

The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed that the deployment of the Monitoring Smart Boards Dashboard reflects the government’s commitment to translating the Renewed Hope Agenda into practical improvements across the education sector.

The ministry assured Nigerians that efforts would continue to expand the use of digital technologies, strengthen ongoing reforms, and ensure that education interventions result in measurable gains in access, quality, accountability, and efficiency throughout the nation’s school system.
