The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has announced the immediate expulsion of 365 students who allegedly secured admission into the institution using falsified academic qualifications.
This development was made public on Monday in a press statement issued by the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Yemi Ajibola. The affected individuals, who were all enrolled in various Higher National Diploma programs, were found to have presented counterfeit National Diploma results and altered academic transcripts from various external institutions to clear their admissions.
According to Ajibola, the disciplinary action was the outcome of a meticulous credential verification process carried out during the school’s routine admission and registration screenings. He emphasized that the mass expulsion highlights the institution’s unwavering stance on academic fraud and its ongoing efforts to preserve the integrity of its administrative ecosystem.
A statistical breakdown provided by the school reveals that the School of Communication and Information Technology was the hardest hit, accounting for 156 of the expelled students. This was followed closely by the School of Business and Management Studies with 117 students. The School of Science and Technology recorded 54 expulsions, the School of Engineering had 36, while the School of Environmental Studies registered just two.
Reacting to the incident, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. Koye Jolaoso, issued a stern warning to future applicants and admission seekers against presenting fraudulent documents. Dr. Jolaoso reaffirmed that this decisive measure is central to maintaining high academic standards, positioning the 47-year-old institution as a benchmark for credibility, transparency, and professional excellence in tertiary education.
