Scholarship Details
The IHE Delft Water and Development Partnership Programme, supported by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provides a limited number of scholarships aimed at strengthening capacity and building a network of water professionals across selected regions.
The programme is structured to support students who will carry out their MSc research within their home country or region, in collaboration with ongoing projects funded under the programme. In addition to academic work, selected candidates are expected to actively engage in seminars and contribute to knowledge-sharing platforms organized through the programme’s learning networks, fostering collaboration and professional development in the field of water and sustainable development.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be living and/or working in one of the eligible regions and countries:
- Middle East: Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Yemen
- Horn of Africa: Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Uganda
- Sahel: Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Nigeria
- Gain academic admission into the MSc Programme in Water and Sustainable Development
- Agree to conduct MSc research in their home country/region linked to programme-supported projects
- Participate actively in seminars organized by the programme’s learning networks
- Show commitment to return to their country of origin or another priority country after completion
- Note: Applicants from Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda are exempt from submitting an English test score

Selection Criteria
Applicants will be assessed based on:
- Strong academic background
- Clear and compelling motivation (responses to five motivation questions)
- Relevant work experience (preferred)
- Priority consideration for female candidates
- Advantage for candidates able to secure co-funding where required
