Scholarship Details
The Government of Estonia Scholarship is funded by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research and administered by the Education and Youth Board. The scholarship is offered to international students through bilateral agreements between Estonia and other countries.
Since 2016, these scholarships have been implemented under the Estonian Scholarship Programme, which supports international students, researchers, and academic staff seeking academic opportunities in Estonia.
The program allows international students to participate in degree programs, exchange programs, and seasonal academic programs such as summer and winter schools at Estonian universities. The scholarship is available to bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD students who have completed at least one year of study at their home institution before applying.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Estonia Degree and Exchange Scholarship, applicants must meet the following conditions:
For Degree Students
- Undergraduate Level:
- Programs must be related to the Estonian language and culture
- Master’s and Doctoral Levels:
- All fields of study are eligible
For Exchange Students
- Must be enrolled in a recognized foreign higher education institution
- The scholarship supports study periods in Estonia of up to 10 months per academic year
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Government of Estonia Scholarship will receive:
- Course fee coverage up to €700 (for one course per applicant)
- Accommodation support of up to €25 per night for a maximum of 4 weeks
- Tuition-free education at Estonian universities
- Direct payment of course fees to the host university
- Accommodation arranged by the university or scholarship payment made to the student
