The Federal Government TVET Program (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) is a flagship initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education designed to empower young Nigerians with practical skills that can lead to employment opportunities or self-employment.
Through collaborations with accredited training centers across Nigeria, the program provides tuition-free vocational training, financial support, and access to tools that help participants develop technical competencies in high-demand trades.
Participants will gain hands-on experience, industry-relevant training, and professional certification, preparing them for successful careers in various vocational fields while also providing opportunities for entrepreneurship and small business development.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Federal Government TVET Program, applicants must meet the requirements for one of the following tracks:
Short-Term Certificate (STC) Programme
- Designed for individuals who want to quickly acquire a practical skill and join the workforce
- Requirements include:
- Valid National Identification Number (NIN)
- Valid Bank Verification Number (BVN)
- No formal educational qualification required
Vocational Education & Innovation (VEI) Programme
- Designed for individuals with some level of education or informal vocational experience who want to develop and formalize their skills
- Applicants must have at least one of the following:
- Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) showing previously acquired skills through apprenticeship or informal training
- First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC)
- Any non-formal education certificate (such as training from NGOs, religious institutions, community programs, or nomadic education)
Program Benefits
Participants selected for the Federal Government TVET Program 2026 will receive:
- Free tuition, fully funded by the Federal Government through NELFund
- Monthly stipend of ₦22,500
- Hands-on practical training in selected vocational trades
- Completion certificates after successful training
- Takeoff grants and access to loans to support business startup
- Career guidance and job placement support
- Startup kits for selected trades
