Scholarship Details
Nicholls State University is offering a Graduate Teaching Assistantship for a Master of Science (M.S.) program in Marine and Environmental Biology, beginning in January 2026.
The selected graduate student will join the Coastal Ecology Lab under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Clay. The research will focus on the Diamondback Terrapin, a species of turtle commonly studied in coastal ecological research.
As part of the program, the student will conduct research aimed at developing a thesis exploring geometric morphometrics and skeletochronology of both hatchling and adult Diamondback Terrapins. In addition to research activities, the student will collaborate closely with the principal investigator to continue the Diamondback Terrapin Head-Start Program.
This work will involve several field and laboratory tasks including nesting surveys, road-mortality monitoring, egg incubation, and the rearing of hatchlings, contributing to conservation and ecological research efforts.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Nicholls State University Master’s Scholarship, applicants must:

- Have experience working with R programming
- Show interest in statistics and large database management
