The PLAC Legislative Internship Program 2026 is a 10-week full-time internship supported by the European Union (EU), offering young Nigerians the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of legislative processes while receiving stipends to support transportation and lunch costs within Abuja.

Internship Details

The Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC) is an independent, non-profit, and non-partisan civil society organisation in Nigeria committed to strengthening democratic governance and promoting citizens’ engagement with public institutions.

The PLAC Legislative Internship Program 2026 is designed for young Nigerians who are interested in gaining firsthand experience in legislative practices and democratic processes. Through this internship, participants will develop a deeper understanding of how legislative institutions operate and how policies are shaped within Nigeria’s democratic framework.

PLAC actively advocates for legal and policy reforms, while also promoting transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in governance. The internship program therefore provides a unique opportunity for participants to learn about public policy, legislative procedures, and civic engagement while building valuable professional networks.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for the PLAC Legislative Internship Program 2026, applicants must:

  • Be a Nigerian citizen between the ages of 21 and 35 years
  • Possess at least a First Degree in any discipline from a recognized tertiary institution
  • Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Programme
  • Demonstrate strong English writing and speaking skills
  • Possess good computer skills
  • Show excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Internship Benefits

Successful applicants of the PLAC Legislative Internship Program 2026 will receive:

  • 10-week full-time legislative internship training

  • Stipends to cover transportation and lunch costs within Abuja

Internship Duration

  • May 2026 – July 2026 (3 Months)

Note:

  • Accommodation will not be provided by PLAC.
  • Applicants are advised to reside in Abuja or be able to cover their accommodation and other logistics costs during the internship period.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) including State of Origin, Date of Birth, and NYSC Service Details
  • Statement of Purpose explaining the motivation for participating in the internship
