Scholarship Details
The AWS AI & ML Scholarship Program, organized by Amazon Web Services in partnership with Udacity, is designed to expand opportunities in the technology sector by supporting individuals who are underserved or underrepresented in tech.
Each year, the program awards 4,500 Udacity Nanodegree scholarships, along with mentorship and technical training, to help participants develop valuable artificial intelligence and machine learning skills.
The scholarship initiative aims to increase diversity in the future tech workforce by removing financial barriers to education, providing hands-on training in AI technologies, and offering mentorship support to guide participants toward successful careers in technology.
As part of the selection process, the program uses a free student-only version of AWS DeepRacer, which allows participants to gain foundational knowledge in machine learning concepts while qualifying for the scholarship application.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the AWS AI and ML Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older
- Be a student, early-career professional, or career switcher
- Self-identify as underserved or underrepresented in technology
- Be currently enrolled in high school or college (subject to Udacity’s terms and conditions)
Additional information:
- No prior knowledge of machine learning, computer science, or racing is required
- The program is designed to help beginners learn machine learning through an engaging racing-based learning experience

Selection Process
The Amazon AI and ML Scholarship Program is conducted in two phases:
Phase 1: Challenge Phase
- Application Period: March 24, 2026 – June 24, 2026
- Open to up to 100,000 learners globally
- Fully funded by Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Based on the AWS AI Practitioner Learning Plan
- Participants complete self-paced foundational AI and Agentic AI training using real AWS services
- Participants who complete the challenge successfully will earn a Certificate of Completion
Phase 2: Udacity Nanodegree
- Program Duration: August 4, 2026 – November 4, 2026
- 4,500 top-performing learners from Phase 1 will advance
- Participants will choose from three specialized Nanodegree tracks
- Includes project-based learning designed to build job-ready AI portfolios using AWS AI services
