Scholarship Details
The University of Auckland International Student Excellence Scholarship is designed to attract high-achieving international students to study at one of New Zealand’s top-ranked universities.
The University of Auckland is strongly committed to sustainability and global education. It has been designated by the United Nations Academic Impact as the official hub for Sustainable Development Goal 4 – Quality Education, reflecting its dedication to advancing quality education globally.
Through this scholarship program, up to 50 international students are selected each year to receive funding support for their studies. The scholarship helps cover part of the tuition costs for a one-year academic program.
Recipients will have the opportunity to study in a multicultural academic environment, collaborate with students from diverse backgrounds, and gain valuable academic and cultural experiences.
Students can choose from several academic fields including:
- Arts
- Business
- Creative Arts and Industries
- Education and Social Work
- Engineering
- Law
- Medical and Health Sciences
- Science

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an international student
- Not be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand or Australia
- Be a new student who has received a conditional or unconditional offer of admission
- Be an English Language Academy student who has received a conditional or unconditional admission offer (if applicable)
- Be enrolling in the Summer Start International Programme and have received an admission letter
- Be enrolling full-time in one of the following programs:
- Undergraduate degree
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGDip)
- Master’s degree
- Have a Grade Point Equivalent (GPE) of at least 6.00
- Be enrolled in an on-campus program
- Inform the Scholarships Office about any other scholarships or financial awards received
- Follow all scholarship regulations and conditions
Additional conditions include:
- Students must complete at least two semesters at the University of Auckland, otherwise the scholarship amount may need to be repaid.

- After receiving your student ID and admission offer, log in to the scholarship portal

- Carefully complete the online application form
- Upload the required documents if requested
