Scholarship Details
The Canadian International Development Scholarship BCDI 2030 is a long-term initiative designed to expand access to quality higher education while promoting social and economic development in partner countries. The programme focuses on equipping scholars with the knowledge, technical skills, and leadership abilities required to contribute to sustainable development within their home countries.
Funded by Global Affairs Canada, the programme runs for eight years (2022–2030) and is aligned with priority areas connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through this initiative, students will gain exposure to advanced training and academic opportunities in Canadian institutions while developing skills that can help address development challenges in their communities.
The programme also aims to reduce inequalities and strengthen the capacity of participating countries by supporting education in key sectors that drive national growth and development.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Canadian International Development Scholarship BCDI 2030, applicants must:
- Be a citizen of one of the 26 eligible BCDI 2030 partner countries
- Meet the admission and eligibility requirements of both:
- A Canadian Higher Education Institution (HEI)
- A partner Higher Education Institution in one of the 26 eligible countries
- Apply through a project partnership between participating institutions
Important: Applications are not submitted directly by individuals to the BCDI 2030 programme.
Scholarship Benefits
Selected scholars under the BCDI 2030 Programme will receive:
- Fully funded study or training opportunities in Canada
- Access to higher education, vocational, and technical training
- Professional and career development opportunities
- International academic exposure
Approximately:
- 600 scholars from partner countries will receive scholarships
- At least 51% of the beneficiaries will be women
Participants will acquire skills, knowledge, and experience that will strengthen their employability and empower them to become agents of change within their communities. After completing their studies, scholars are expected to return home and contribute to the social and economic development of their countries.
