The University of Brescia has officially opened applications for the 2026/2027 academic year scholarships for international students seeking to enroll in undergraduate or master’s degree programmes. These scholarships are awarded for the entire normal duration of the chosen study program.

The STAR Scholarship is primarily targeted at students from African countries, including those applying for bachelor’s degree programs through a dedicated call. Meanwhile, the LMINT Scholarship is mainly awarded to students who obtained their previous degree from non-EU partner universities within the Asea Uninet network.

Through these scholarships, the university aims to promote international academic mobility and support talented students from developing countries by providing financial assistance and access to quality education in Italy.

Eligibility Criteria

Requirements for Undergraduate Applicants (LMINT + STAR Scholarships):

  • Be resident and domiciled in a developing country
  • Be willing to enroll in an undergraduate programme taught in Italian
  • Hold a secondary school diploma obtained in an African country
  • Be born in 2000 or later
  • Be applying to an Italian university for the first time
  • Possess a valid secondary school certificate that:
    • Was obtained after at least 12 years of schooling
    • Grants access to undergraduate programmes in the country of issue
    • Is comparable to EQF Level 4
    • Was issued within a non-EU educational system
    • Was issued by an officially recognized educational institution
    • For transnational institutions, authorization must be granted by both the host country and reference educational system
  • Provide proof of Italian language proficiency (minimum A1 CEFR) with a course certificate
  • Language skills will also be assessed during an online interview
  • Must not already hold an undergraduate degree from a foreign educational system

Requirements for Postgraduate Applicants (STAR Scholarships):

  • Hold nationality and residence in a developing country, or in priority countries defined by the Italian Agency for Cooperation such as:
    • Cuba, Egypt, El Salvador, Jordan, Iraq, Kenya, Lebanon, Tunisia, and Palestinian Territories
  • Be registering for the first time at an Italian university
  • Hold a valid undergraduate degree that:
    • Has a minimum duration of three years
    • Allows admission to a postgraduate programme in the issuing country
    • Is comparable to QF EHEA Level 6 / EQF Level 6
    • Was issued outside the European Union
    • Was obtained from a recognized higher education institution
  • The degree must be suitable for admission to the chosen master’s programme
  • For English-taught programmes, applicants must:
    • Hold a B2 CEFR English certificate, or
    • Have completed their previous studies in English
  • Have a minimum final grade of 80/100 or a GPA of at least 3.2/4

Scholarship Benefits

Recipients of the STAR Scholarship will receive several benefits, including:

  • Annual scholarship grant of €6,150
  • Full tuition fee waiver (except regional tax and stamp duty of approximately €156)
  • Free accommodation in a shared double room within university residences
  • Subsidized university canteen services
  • Discounted public transportation pass
  • €500 contribution for enrollment in the Italian National Health Service or private health insurance (reimbursed upon submission of receipts)

  • Valid identity document (preferably a passport)
  • Official certificate of qualification obtained, including:
    • Name and level of qualification
    • Final grade obtained
    • Minimum and maximum grading scale
    • Year the qualification was obtained
    • Name and address of the issuing institution
    • List of exams taken with scores and credits
  • If the degree is not yet completed, an official university enrollment certificate with a list of exams may be submitted
  • Certified translation of documents into English or Italian if originally issued in another language
  • For Master’s degrees taught in Italian:
    • Italian language certificate (minimum CEFR B2)
  • For English-taught programmes:
    • English proficiency certificate (e.g., IELTS or TOEFL) with minimum CEFR B2 if previous studies were not conducted in English
  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages) in English or Italian
  • Reference letter or the name and email of a referee (optional but recommended)
