Program Details
The McKinsey Forward Program is a complimentary five-month online learning journey created to empower young African talents with practical and transferable skills for long-term career success.
Delivered in a highly interactive virtual format, the program begins by building strong foundational skills before progressing to real-life case studies that reflect practical business situations. Participants engage in reflection exercises, peer-to-peer learning, and expert-led sessions that help transform knowledge into real-world behaviors.
The program focuses on strengthening critical leadership capabilities, enhancing business thinking, and developing digital fluency — all of which are essential for today’s dynamic and competitive job market.
Upon successful completion, participants receive a McKinsey Forward digital badge and gain access to an exclusive global community of ambitious, lifelong learners.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the McKinsey Forward Program, applicants must:
- Currently reside in any country within the African continent
- Be currently employed, self-employed, or temporarily between jobs
- Have less than five (5) years of total work experience
OR
- Have more than five (5) years of work experience but must not have directly managed colleagues at any point
Additionally, applicants must:
- Have completed at least secondary school/high school education
- Demonstrate good proficiency in English, as the program will be conducted entirely in English
Program Benefits
Selected participants will enjoy:
- An interactive learning experience, including digital courses, virtual workshops, discussion boards, and expert-led assignments
- Foundation Level: 8 weeks (approximately two hours per week)
- Advanced Level: 11 weeks (approximately two hours per week) — earn a shareable McKinsey Forward digital badge
- Network Level: 18 months of optional continued engagement and networking activities
Participants will gain practical, immediately applicable skills to:
- Break down complex business challenges using structured and creative thinking
- Communicate effectively and influence action
- Apply agile methodologies and leverage data and technology
