Following several successful editions, the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC) has officially launched the 7th round of its Global Citizen (GC) Scholarship Program, inviting eligible African youth to apply.

Scholarship Details
The Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship 2026 is a fully virtual program designed to equip young African changemakers with the knowledge, tools, and networks needed to take meaningful action toward achieving the SDGs in their communities.
Participants will design and implement a localized SDG Micro-Project addressing specific development challenges aligned with Agenda 2030. Throughout the 8–9 month program, scholars will participate in a summer school, expert-led workshops, and specialized training sessions focused on sustainable development and social entrepreneurship.
The initiative combines hands-on project implementation with mentorship and global exposure, empowering scholars to transform ideas into impactful community-driven solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Ban Ki-moon Global Citizen Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Be African youth (regardless of race, gender, or sexual orientation)
- Hold citizenship from one of the following countries:
- Ghana
- Nigeria
- Cameroon
- Ethiopia
- Kenya
- Be between 20–35 years old
- Have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Demonstrate strong commitment to the SDGs and global citizenship values
- Possess a minimum English proficiency level of B2 (European Standards)
Scholarship Benefits
Selected scholars will receive the following benefits over the 8–9 month program:
- Full cost coverage for a one-week Summer School training with MCI Innsbruck
- Access to expert workshops and specialized SDG training
- Peer-to-peer mentoring opportunities
- $500 seed funding to implement their SDG Micro-Project (disbursed after approval of project proposal)
- Certificate of Achievement signed by:

Required Documents
During the nomination process, applicants will be required to provide:
- Personal details (name, contact information, date of birth, address, citizenship, gender, education, language proficiency, short profile description)
- Professional details (academic qualifications, organization name, role/function)
- SDG Micro-Project details (title, issues addressed, SDGs targeted, implementation strategy)
At the final stage of the application, candidates must upload:
- Motivational statement
- Portrait photograph (JPEG or PNG format)
- Introduction video (maximum 30 seconds, MP4 or MOV format)
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Project outline of the proposed SDG Micro-Project
