The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the 2025 second series results of the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates.

The examination was conducted across Nigeria from November 11 to December 17, 2025, with 65,752 candidates — including persons with special needs — participating at 370 centres nationwide.

According to the council, 27,727 candidates, representing 42.17 per cent, achieved credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. Of this number, 13,416 were males (48.39 per cent), while 14,311 were females (51.61 per cent).

When compared with previous years, performance shows a slight decline. In 2023 and 2024, 44.29 per cent and 53.64 per cent of candidates respectively attained similar results, reflecting an 11.47 per cent drop in performance this year.

The Head of National Office (HNO), WAEC Nigeria, Dr. Amos Dangut, disclosed the development in a statement issued Monday night through the council’s spokesperson, Mrs. Moyosola Adesina. He revealed that 61,943 candidates (94.21 per cent) have had their results completely processed and released. However, 3,809 candidates (5.79 per cent) are still awaiting full processing of some subjects due to errors attributed to them.

Dangut assured that efforts are ongoing to resolve the issues so that the affected results can be released once corrections are completed.

He further stated that the results of 1,899 candidates — representing 2.89 per cent of the total — have been withheld over alleged cases of examination malpractice. These cases are currently under investigation and will be reviewed by the appropriate committee of the council. The decisions reached will be communicated directly to the candidates concerned.

Candidates have been advised to check their results by visiting the official WAEC result portal at www.waecdirect.org to confirm their status before proceeding to the digital certificate platform at www.waec.org to access their certificates.

He added that candidates seeking hard copies of their certificates must apply online through the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman) at https://certrequest.waec.ng/.
