The Ekiti State Government has officially opened applications for the 2026 Scholarship and Bursary Awards for qualified indigenes of the state.
The Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Scheme 2026 provides financial support of up to ₦750,000 to eligible undergraduate, HND, postgraduate, and physically challenged students to assist them in pursuing their academic goals in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

Scholarship Details
Applications are now open for the 2026 Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Awards, following the continued commitment of the Ekiti State Government to promote academic excellence and reduce the financial burden on deserving students. Through the Ekiti State Scholarship Board (ESSB), the state government is providing financial assistance to qualified students who are currently enrolled in tertiary institutions.
Under the administration of Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, scholarships will be awarded to eligible Ekiti State indigenes who are in their second year and above, studying various programmes in Universities, Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, and other recognized tertiary institutions within Nigeria.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Awards, applicants must meet the following requirements:
Scholarship Awards
- Undergraduate applicants must:
- Be in their second year or above
- Possess WASSCE/NECO with a minimum of five credits, including English Language and Mathematics in one sitting
- Have a minimum CGPA of:
- 4.0 (Universities)
- 3.50 (Polytechnics)
- 3.50 (NCE)
- Master’s Degree applicants must:
- Possess a minimum of Second Class Upper Division at the undergraduate level
- PhD applicants must:
- Have a Distinction in their Master’s Degree
- Possess a minimum of Second Class Upper Division at the undergraduate level
- Provide a letter of recommendation from their university
- Physically challenged students enrolled in:
- NCE, ND, College of Health Technology
- School of Nursing/Midwifery
- HND and Postgraduate programmes
- Are eligible for the Scholarship Award
- Students on part-time or sandwich programmes are not eligible for Scholarship Awards
Bursary Awards
- All students, including physically challenged postgraduate students, are eligible to apply for the Bursary Awards
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Awards will receive the following financial support:
- Physically Challenged Award: ₦60,000
- NCE / OND Award: ₦60,000
- Undergraduate Award: ₦60,000
- HND Award: ₦60,000
- Law School Bursary Award: ₦150,000
- Master’s Degree Award: ₦250,000
- PhD Award: ₦750,000
- Joint State & Local Government Bursary (50:50): ₦10,000
Required Documents
To apply for the Ekiti State Scholarship and Bursary Awards, applicants must submit certified copies of the following documents:
- Current school fees payment receipt
- Institution identification card
- Letter of identification from Head of Department
- Certified academic transcript (by the Registrar)
- Certified copies of academic credentials
- Certificate of Local Government origin
- Three (3) years Tax Payment Certificate and Development Levy receipts of applicant’s parent
