Applications for the 2026/27 AUB Mastercard Scholarship are now open under the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program in partnership with the American University of Beirut (AUB). The program provides fully funded opportunities for on-campus Master’s and PhD degrees, as well as selected online Master’s programs.
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program is aimed at developing ethically grounded and socially committed leaders who will drive positive change across Africa. Beyond academic training, scholars participate in structured workshops, leadership courses, and community-based fieldwork alongside their degree programs.
The scholarship goes beyond financial support by offering comprehensive mentoring, leadership development, academic tutoring, internship placements, and career guidance, while fully covering tuition fees and essential living costs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the American University of Beirut Mastercard Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be citizens of, or refugees residing in, any African country
- Demonstrate strong academic performance in their previous degree
- Show talent and potential that exceeds their financial capacity
- Demonstrate commitment to giving back to their community, country, and region
- Possess strong leadership qualities
- Commit to participating in all mandatory workshops, training sessions, and enrichment activities under the Scholars Program
- Be 35 years old or younger
- Demonstrate readiness for university studies in English (RUSE)

- IELTS (Academic)
- GRE (Verbal)
- GMAT (Verbal)
- Duolingo English Test (DET)

How to Apply
To apply for the 2026/27 AUB Mastercard Scholarship:
- Step 1: Complete the AUB online graduate application and upload all required supporting documents before the deadline
- Step 2: Select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program under the Financial Opportunities section of the online graduate application
- Step 3: Complete the AUB Financial Aid Application, which becomes available within 1–3 working days after submitting the graduate application
Applicants will receive an automated email from the Financial Aid Office within 1–3 days confirming access to the financial aid application.

For an application to be considered complete, applicants must:
- Complete the AUB online graduate application
- Complete the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program survey
- Submit valid RUSE (English proficiency) scores
