The Asia–Europe Foundation (ASEF), in collaboration with its co-organisers, invites early-career professionals to participate in the fully funded ASEF Capacity-Building Program on Rights-Respecting AI Governance. The in-person program, titled “Future-Proofing AI: Building Human-in-the-Loop Governance Skills for Rights-Respecting AI”, will take place from 30 March – 1 April 2026 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
This intensive training program combines lectures, case-based learning, policy analysis, and collaborative design activities, guided by experts from Europe and Asia. The program aims to integrate human rights principles into AI governance and develop participants’ capacities to design ethical, rights-respecting AI policies.

Program Details
The ASEF Training Program 2026 is designed for early-career professionals (1–5 years of experience) from ASEM countries who are engaged in implementing or advocating for AI deployment.
The three-day program includes pre-training and post-training sessions, hands-on learning, and collaborative activities aimed at enhancing participants’ understanding of human-in-the-loop AI governance. Only 25–30 participants will be selected from diverse professional backgrounds, including industry practitioners, civil society representatives, researchers, academics, and emerging policy or regulatory professionals.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the ASEF Training Program in Indonesia 2026, applicants must:
- Be an early-career professional with 1–5 years of relevant experience
- Reside in an ASEM country (list available at: ASEM Info Board)
- Be currently engaged in implementing or advocating for AI deployment
- Submit the application form before the deadline
