In line with its statutory mandate to promote human capacity development and skills acquisition in the Niger Delta region, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has finalized plans to train youths from the region under the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Vehicle Conversion Programme.
The CNG Vehicle Conversion Training Programme is structured to equip beneficiaries with relevant and marketable skills in Autogas Conversion Technology, enabling them to participate effectively in the emerging clean energy and automotive sector. Through a blend of classroom instruction and intensive hands-on technical training, participants will gain practical experience that meets industry standards.
Beyond skills acquisition, the programme is expected to contribute significantly to the development of a more sustainable and efficient transportation system. It will also stimulate economic growth through job creation, increased demand for skilled Autogas technicians, and reduced environmental pollution, in line with NDDC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and green energy solutions.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the NDDC Skill Development Training and Empowerment Programme, applicants must:
- Be indigenes of any of the nine (9) states in the Niger Delta region
- Possess a minimum qualification of:
- SSCE/WAEC with Science-related subjects, or
- OND (Sciences), or
- Trade Test Certificate from a recognized institution
- Be fresh graduates of engineering-related courses within the Niger Delta with a clear interest in CNG conversion technology (optional but encouraged)
- Be between 18 and 35 years of age
- Possess other recognized technical qualifications related to automotive, mechanical, or allied trades
