Fellowship Details

The Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Health Leadership is an Africa-focused leadership initiative aimed at developing the next generation of public health leaders. Named in honour of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Kofi Atta Annan, the fellowship is structured to strengthen leadership capacity for advancing Africa’s Health Security and Sovereignty Agenda while contributing to Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Fellows will participate in blended learning formats, combining virtual sessions with in-person residential placements, and will actively contribute to real-world public health leadership challenges across the continent. The programme is designed for seasoned professionals who are positioned to influence policy, strengthen institutions, and drive sustainable public health impact in Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

To be qualified for the Kofi Annan Fellowship in Global Health Leadership, applicants must:

  • Hold a postgraduate degree in a public health–related field, such as:
    • One Health
    • Human Medicine
    • Public or Mental Health
    • Health Economics or Finance
    • Health Policy
    • Animal Health
    • Sexual and Reproductive Health
    • Environmental Health
  • Be a citizen of an African Union Member State
  • Have a minimum of 10 years of professional experience after postgraduate qualification
  • Be employed full-time in public health within a public or private institution in Africa
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of public health leadership
