Scholarship Details
The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) Scholarship offers international students the opportunity to undertake Master’s, PhD, General Scholar, or Senior Scholar programmes across more than 30 specialized research institutes under CAAS. The scholarship is delivered through several funding channels, including the Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS), Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS), internal GSCAAS scholarships, and the GSCAAS–OWSD Fellowship.
Selected candidates benefit from comprehensive financial support designed to remove major barriers to study and research in China. The scholarship provides tuition waivers, monthly stipends, free on-campus accommodation, medical insurance coverage, and research assistantship opportunities, allowing students to focus fully on academic training and advanced agricultural research.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a non-Chinese citizen
- Be in good health and willing to abide by Chinese laws and regulations
- Meet the education and age requirements listed below:
- Master’s Programme:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree
- Be under 35 years of age
- Doctoral Programme:
- Hold a Master’s degree
- Be under 40 years of age
- General Scholar:
- Have completed at least two years of undergraduate study
- Be under 45 years of age
- Senior Scholar:
- Hold a Master’s degree or higher, or possess an academic title of Associate Professor or above
- Be under 50 years of age
- Master’s Programme:
- Demonstrate English and/or Chinese language proficiency

- Completed application form
- Photocopy of a valid passport (minimum of two years validity)
- Notarized highest academic diploma
- Copies of academic transcripts
- Two reference letters from professors or academic experts
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Research proposal (minimum of 1,000 words or characters)
- Language proficiency documents, including English or Chinese certificates (TOEFL, IELTS, CEFR, or HSK, where applicable)

- Applicants seeking the Chinese Government Scholarship must also complete the CSC Application System form and upload the generated CSC application document within the GSCAAS portal
- Candidates applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship and GSCAAS Scholarship must submit applications by March 31, 2026, and April 30, 2026, respectively, for autumn semester enrolment
- GSCAAS will review applications and issue Admission Notices and Confirmation Forms around July 15, 2026, for successful autumn semester candidates
