Scholarship Details
Western Kentucky University is offering a fully funded research graduate assistantship through its Aquatic Ecology and Systematics Lab. The selected student will work on ongoing research projects focused on the systematics and conservation of Plecoptera (stoneflies). The lab applies an integrative approach that combines morphological and molecular techniques, giving students a strong foundation in advanced ecological research.
The successful candidate will participate in fieldwork, assist with sorting and identifying specimens, and prepare samples for both morphological and molecular analyses. Additional responsibilities include collecting data, analyzing results, and contributing to the development of a Master’s thesis, as well as preparing scientific presentations and publications. This assistantship is ideal for students who have a passion for aquatic ecology, conservation, and hands-on research.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Western Kentucky University Graduate Scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a B.A. or B.S. in Biology, Ecology, or a related field (such as Environmental Science, Wildlife and Fisheries, etc.)
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.75/4.0
Desired qualifications include:
