Scholarship Details
Each year, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm awards a number of competitive KTH Scholarships to outstanding students who must pay tuition fees and who selected a KTH Master’s programme as their first choice. The scholarship aims to support high-achieving candidates committed to academic excellence and sustainable development.
In the 2025 cycle, only 8% of eligible applicants received the award (65 selected out of 803). Additionally, KTH offers other related funding options, including the KTH One-Year Scholarship, KTH Joint Programme Scholarship, and KTH India Scholarship.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the KTH Royal Institute Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a fee-paying student
- Have applied for a KTH Master’s programme as first priority
- Students with conditional eligibility may also apply
- Eligible for all programmes except:
- Joint Erasmus+
- EIT Digital
- EIT InnoEnergy
- EIT Urban Mobility
- Nordic Five Tech
- Joint programme in Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering
- Applicants to the following joint programmes are eligible:
- Molecular Techniques in Life Science
- Innovative Technology for Healthy Living (EIT Health)
- Applicants of some excluded programmes may apply under the KTH Joint Programme Scholarship
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants will receive:
- Tuition fee coverage for the first and second year of the Master’s program (continuation to the second year is based on satisfactory academic performance)
- Note: The scholarship does not provide funding for living expenses
Selection Process
Assessment for the KTH Scholarship is conducted alongside the admissions evaluation. Only candidates who meet all academic requirements for their chosen program will be considered. Selection is based on:
- The applicant’s academic performance (GPA or equivalent)
- Ranking and reputation of the awarding university
- The applicant’s motivation, relevant work experience, awards, research exposure, and extracurricular involvement
- The applicant’s explanation of how their Master’s training at KTH will contribute to global sustainable development goals
