Scholarship Details

Graduate Research Assistantships are available under the supervision of Dr. Joseph Zydlewski at the University of Maine, Orono. Selected scholars will join an active research group and work toward a graduate degree while contributing to impactful scientific projects.

The primary research project focuses on examining the cost implications of migration delays for adult Atlantic salmon moving upstream in Maine. A secondary project aims to analyze the thermal environments encountered by cold-water species such as brook trout and Atlantic salmon across the region. Graduate students will receive joint supervision from Dr. Christina Murphy and Dr. Joe Zydlewski, benefiting from an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing research environment.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the University of Maine Scholarships 2026, applicants must:

  • Hold an M.S. in Biology or equivalent field.
  • Possess strong quantitative skills and interest in fisheries science.
