Scholarship Details
The MCW Global Young Leaders Fellowship is a transformative, year-long leadership development program designed to empower young people to solve pressing community issues. The program begins with a 1-month virtual Community Needs Assessment in June 2026, followed by a 10-day in-person intensive in New York City and Burlington, Vermont in July 2026.
Participants then embark on 10 months of virtual project implementation, supported by expert mentors and a global network of peers. It is a hands-on, action-driven experience ideal for aspiring leaders in Africa who want international exposure while making measurable impact in their home communities.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the MCW Young Leaders Fellowship, applicants must:
- Be 18–26 years old by June 1, 2026
- Demonstrate interest in education, health, or economic security community issues
- Show fluency in spoken and written English
- Be fully available for the June virtual assessment, the July in-person program, and the year-long project execution
- Have reliable internet access and an active email
- Present original, authentic ideas (no AI-generated content)
- Have volunteer or community engagement experience (preferred but not mandatory)
Scholarship Benefits
Selected Young Leaders will receive:
- Fully funded international roundtrip flights
- Fully covered U.S. domestic travel for program movement
- Free housing during the in-person program (July 20–30)
- Three meals daily during the in-person fellowship
- Airport pick-up and local transportation
- Access to workshops, leadership training, and a global network
- A structured 10-month mentorship program
- Support to design and implement a real community project
- Just a refundable $100 deposit to confirm participation
Required Documents
Applicants must prepare and submit the following in English:
- Personal Information Form (completed on the portal)
- Two essay responses (authentic stories and reflections)
- One-page CV highlighting education, experience, and community work
- Two recommendation letters from mentors or supervisors
- Signed liability waiver
- All documents must be uploaded through the online portal
Application Deadline
Applications close December 3, 2025 at 11:59 PM EST.
Selection is conducted in rounds, with:
- Round 1 results on December 22
- Shortlisted applicants submitting Round 2 requirements by January 11
- Interviews scheduled for February 3–12
- Final acceptances on February 19
- Confirmation deadline on February 26
- Program officially begins June 8, 2026
