The DLA Piper Global Scholarship is a two-year development programme created to support exceptional law students (Fellows) from developing countries, helping them build the skills, exposure, and confidence needed to strengthen the rule of law in their communities.
The Scholarship fully covers university tuition for the entire duration and also funds transport, accommodation, visas, food, and provides selected Fellows with a laptop.

Scholarship Details
The DLA Piper Global Scholarship selects up to 50 outstanding students yearly from regions including Africa, South and West Asia, Latin America, and the South Pacific. Fellows benefit from fully paid tuition throughout the two-year duration and receive access to mentorship, internships, professional training, and career preparation initiatives that strengthen their legal and leadership abilities.
After completing the programme, Fellows automatically join a global alumni network that offers continuous support and growth opportunities. The programme is delivered in collaboration with universities, clients, governments, and partners, and is designed solely for development—not recruitment—allowing Fellows to pursue diverse career paths aligned with their ambitions.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the DLA Piper Law Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be studying Law and currently in their final or penultimate year of their programme in their home country, or
- Have completed a Law degree and gained admission for a Master’s programme in a related field in their home country
- Be achieving or expected to achieve a first-class degree or rank among the top 10% of their class
- Provide a recommendation letter from their university
- Be a citizen of the country from which they are applying
- Have strong written and spoken English to participate effectively in the programme
