Governor Dauda Lawal has reiterated his administration’s commitment to advancing girl-child education and strengthening women’s economic empowerment as part of broader efforts to accelerate development across Zamfara State.
Speaking on Wednesday in Gusau during a courtesy visit by Comrade Aisha Burra, National President of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), the governor emphasized that educating girls and empowering women are essential pillars for building a progressive and prosperous society. The visit coincided with a three-day NAWOJ workshop on gender equity, safety, and gender-sensitive reporting for women journalists in the state.
Governor Lawal noted that his administration has consistently championed gender equity, backing this commitment with policies that expand access to education for girls and create more opportunities for women to thrive economically.
He further assured the NAWOJ leadership of the state government’s readiness to host the 19 Northern States National Conference, which will focus on strengthening the role of women in peacebuilding.
