Scholarship Details
The Faculty of Science at the University of Geneva established the Excellence Masters Fellowship Program with the support of various partners to attract talented international students to study in Switzerland.
The Faculty offers Master’s degrees that provide strong academic and professional preparation, opening pathways to careers in research, industry, education, science communication, and more. Some programs are taught entirely in English, while others are offered in both English and French. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply early.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Geneva Excellence Masters Fellowship, applicants must:
- Be a student from any university with outstanding academic performance (within the top 10% of their undergraduate program).
- Have already completed their Bachelor’s degree or be expecting to complete it within 6 months of application.
- Be selected based on academic excellence and the strength of their application documents.
- Note: French language proficiency is not required for the Master’s programs within the Faculty of Science.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of this scholarship will receive:
- Scholarship amount: CHF 10,000 – 15,000 per year
- Awarded initially for one year
- May be extended for the full duration of the Master’s program (3–4 semesters), provided the recipient performs well academically in the first semester.
Required Documents
The application, submitted as one single PDF file, must include:
- Scan of national identity card or passport
- Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages)
- Bachelor’s academic transcripts with grades
- Motivation letter describing scientific interests and reasons for choosing the Master’s program at Geneva
- If available: Two recommendation letters from professors (preferably sent directly to [email protected])
- Any additional supporting documents (e.g., GRE scores, TOEFL/IELTS results, certificates)
The application process begins online in January each year. Applicants will receive an email with a personalized link to complete the application form after registration.
