Scholarship Details
The University of Idaho Graduate Scholarship position is offered through the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, within the Department of Animal, Veterinary and Food Sciences, and will be based at the Nancy M. Cummings Research, Extension and Education Center (NMCREEC).
The selected candidate will take the lead in coordinating a research team of junior students and seasonal field technicians. They will also collaborate closely with cattle producers to support project goals. Furthermore, the program provides ongoing interaction with scientists, industry partners, and land management agencies, offering hands-on experience and extensive professional networking in the agricultural and environmental research space.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered, applicants must:
- Hold a completed Master’s degree in a related field (or be able to complete it within 3 months of starting the program)
- Have strong leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a solid work ethic
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Be willing to engage in field research in remote environments and varying weather conditions
Preference may be given to applicants who:
- Have experience in vegetation monitoring, livestock management, agricultural tools/tech, or geographic mapping (such as ArcGIS or onX)
- Have research publications, conference presentations, or grant writing experience
- Have background working in rural areas, ranching/farming operations, operating ATV/UTVs or 4WD vehicles, or towing trailers
