Scholarship Details
The Karolinska Institutet Global Masters Scholarship offers a limited number of tuition-fee scholarships each year to academically outstanding students who have gained admission into one of the Institute’s Global Master’s Programmes.
Each year, approximately 10 scholarships are awarded across all Global Master’s Programmes, selected from a highly competitive pool of about 1,500 international applicants.
Karolinska Institutet stands as Sweden’s foremost center for academic medical research and offers the widest range of medical education programs in the country. Notably, since 1901, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet has been responsible for selecting the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine; a testament to its global reputation and excellence.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Karolinska Institutet Global Masters Scholarship, applicants must:
- Have applied to one of Karolinska Institutet’s Global Master’s Programmes starting in 2026
- Be classified as a tuition fee-paying student (outside the EU/EEA)
- Have paid the application fee by February 2, 2026
- Meet all entry and documentation requirements for the chosen program
- Be applying as a first-year student (new applicants only)
Program Benefits
Recipients of the KI Global Masters Scholarship will receive:
- Full or partial tuition coverage for the duration of their Master’s programme
Please note:
- The scholarship does not cover travel, living expenses, or other personal costs, which must be financed through alternative means.
- The scholarship is only valid for Global Master’s Programmes at Karolinska Institutet and cannot be transferred to other institutions or studies.
Selection Process
The selection is based on a comprehensive assessment of each applicant’s academic qualifications and CV, as submitted through UniversityAdmissions.se and evaluated alongside their Master’s programme application.
Successful candidates will be notified via email.

- February 2, 2026: Deadline to submit CV form via University Admissions
- February 9 – 25, 2026: Scholarship application period
- April 27, 2026: Scholarship awardees notified by email
- April 30, 2026: Deadline to accept the scholarship offer
