Scholarship Details
The SI Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM is an academic award for full-time one- or two-year master’s studies in specific STEM programmes in Sweden. It is designed for women determined to drive progress in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields.
This initiative reflects Sweden’s commitment to empowering women to innovate, lead, and create transformative impact globally. Through this program, participants gain advanced knowledge, develop innovative solutions, and strengthen their ability to contribute to sustainable development in their home countries.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the 2026 Swedish Institute Women in STEM Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a female citizen of one of the 10 eligible countries: Bangladesh, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Nigeria, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Thailand, and Vietnam.
- Follow the University Admissions process and be admitted to one of the eligible master’s programmes on the day of admissions announcements.
- Apply for designated master’s programmes in STEM, focusing on one or more of the core areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the SI Scholarship Pioneering Women in STEM will receive:
- Full tuition fee coverage, paid directly by the Swedish Institute to the university at the start of each semester.
- A monthly stipend of SEK 12,000 to cover living expenses throughout the study period.
- A one-time travel grant of SEK 15,000 (not applicable to students already residing in Sweden).
- Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) providing mentorship, professional growth, and networking opportunities in Sweden.
- Access to the SI Alumni Network after the scholarship period, offering continued collaboration and career development.
How to Apply
Interested and eligible candidates should follow these steps:
- Select a master’s programme. Review the list of eligible programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year.
- Apply through University Admissions between October 15, 2025 – January 15, 2026, via universityadmissions.se.
- Once you have applied for one or more eligible master’s programmes and meet all requirements, you will be automatically considered for the scholarship.
- Inform the Swedish Institute by completing the form titled “Pioneering Women in STEM – Confirmation of University Application.”
- Receive notifications:
- March 26: Notification from University Admissions regarding admission to the programme.
- April 23: Notification from the Swedish Institute regarding scholarship selection.
