NELFUND Urges Tertiary Institutions to Update Student Records Ahead of 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has directed all accredited tertiary institutions nationwide to update and upload student records ahead of the portal opening for the 2025/2026 academic session.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, said the exercise involves both returning and newly admitted students, who are to be registered on the NELFUND Students Verification Portal before the official commencement of the new session.

According to her, the proactive move is designed to ensure a smooth verification and loan application process once the portal opens.

“Institutions are, therefore, required to ensure that each student’s data is accurately captured and uploaded using the admission number or any other unique and verifiable identifier,” she stated.

Ms. Oluwatuyi emphasized that tertiary institutions play a critical role in the success of the Education Loan Scheme and urged them to cooperate fully to help expand access to higher education for eligible Nigerian students.

She added that only students whose details have been verified and uploaded by their institutions will qualify to apply for the student loan.

“NELFUND urges all institutions to promptly begin and complete the upload process, assigning designated officers to oversee the task in line with the technical guidelines provided,” she said.

She encouraged institutions to seek technical support or further clarification through NELFUND’s official channels:
