Scholarship Details

The CAS-ANSO Scholarship (formerly known as ANSO Scholarship for Young Talents) was officially launched in 2019 to nurture and empower promising young scientists across the globe. Managed by the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO), this program aims to advance global capacity in science and technology, enhance human well-being, and foster international cooperation and exchange.

Each year, the scholarship supports 100–200 Master’s students and 300 PhD students to pursue postgraduate education at USTC, UCAS, or other CAS institutes across China. The program offers a unique opportunity for talented students to gain world-class academic and research training in one of the fastest-growing scientific environments in the world.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ANSO China Scholarship 2026, applicants must:

  • Not hold Chinese citizenship.
  • Be proficient in English or Chinese.
  • For the Master’s program, be born on or after January 1, 1995 (inclusive).
  • For the PhD program, be born on or after January 1, 1990 (inclusive).
  • Meet the admission requirements for international students at USTC or UCAS.
  • Not hold any other assignments during the scholarship period.
  • Applicants currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in China are not eligible for the corresponding program under this scholarship.

Note:
Applicants are not allowed to apply for the CAS-ANSO Scholarship in both USTC and UCAS simultaneously. Doing so will result in automatic disqualification.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants of the ANSO China Scholarship 2026 will receive:

  • Full tuition waiver
  • Monthly stipend:
    • 3,000 CNY/month for Master’s students (up to 36 months)
    • 6,000–7,000 CNY/month for PhD students (up to 48 months)
  • Comprehensive health insurance
  • International travel allowance (from home country to China)
  • Visa and residence permit allowance
  • Application fee waiver

  • Complete and submit their applications through the USTC or UCAS admission system before the deadline.
  • When filling the application, select “CAS-ANSO Scholarship” in the funding section.
  • Applicants who wish to be considered for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship should also check the corresponding box as indicated in the system.
