The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has praised Nigerian teachers for their vital contributions to shaping the lives and careers of young people across the country.
In a statement issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Leke Olatunji Baiyewu, the Speaker described teachers as indispensable partners in national development and urged both public and private stakeholders to support them in carrying out their duties effectively.
Abbas, who was a teacher before venturing into politics, referred to educators as “co-parents and experts in nurturing and moulding young people into educated, civilised, productive, and patriotic citizens.”
He emphasized that teachers remain critical stakeholders in the nation’s progress and called for continuous training, retraining, and improved welfare packages, particularly for academic staff in educational institutions to enhance their performance and motivation.
