Scholarship Details
The University of Sussex PhD Scholarship 2026 is a fully funded opportunity for research in Engineering. The project is focused on identifying new energy vectors that can replace fossil fuels. These alternatives will be designed to be sustainable, climate-friendly, and capable of releasing energy in a controlled and efficient way.
The research will be carried out in two main phases. The first phase involves structure generation and property assessment using graph-theoretic methods and fast computational chemistry techniques. These will be programmed on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) using HDL coder within the Simulink/Matlab toolset where applicable. The second phase will build on the results from phase one, combining machine learning approaches with quantum chemical methods to predict and evaluate new energy systems.
This studentship provides a unique chance for motivated candidates to join a cutting-edge research initiative that contributes to sustainable energy innovation.
