Scholarship Details
The Seoul National University–Samsung SDI Battery Track (SSBT) is a graduate scholarship program created through a strategic partnership between Samsung SDI and Seoul National University. It is designed to nurture top talent in the field of battery and secondary battery research.
Students admitted into the SSBT program receive monthly scholarships from Seoul National University. In addition, candidates who secure employment at Samsung SDI will be awarded an extra industry-academic scholarship, making this a work-integrated scholarship program with guaranteed employment at Samsung SDI after graduation.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Samsung SDI Scholarship at Seoul National University, applicants must:
- Be prospective or current students in the 2026 SNU Graduate School Master’s program, or PhD students who have completed coursework.
- For Master’s applicants: have at least two semesters remaining at the time of application.
- For PhD applicants: have at least two semesters remaining and be able to graduate within two years maximum.
- Be enrolled in battery/secondary battery-related majors within the participating departments, which include:
- Materials Science and Engineering
- Chemical and Biological Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Department of Chemistry (College of Natural Sciences)
- Applicants from other departments with majors in battery/secondary battery fields may also apply.
- Be committed to seeking employment at Samsung SDI after graduation.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the Samsung SDI Scholarship 2026 will receive:
- Full tuition funding and academic support.
- Participation in SSBT training programs.
- Monthly stipend of 1,750,000 KRW (approximately $15,147 per year).
- SSBT Support Scholarship.
- Guaranteed employment at Samsung SDI after program completion.
