Established over 30 years ago in Helsinki, Finland, it is the first research centre of the United Nations University.
The Joint Master’s Programme is delivered through collaboration between the United Nations University and the Department of Geography, University of Bonn. It represents a significant step in the internationalization of the University of Bonn and is fully supported by the DAAD. This program is designed to foster expert knowledge and practical experience needed for addressing environmental risks, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary learning and global development.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the 2026 UNU Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements in addition to the general eligibility conditions of the Master’s programme:
- Be a citizen of a Developing Country (as classified by the DAAD)
- Have at least two years of practical work experience in a relevant field (e.g., NGOs, government organizations, or private sector)
- Have obtained a Bachelor’s degree not more than five years ago
- Not have previously completed a Master’s degree in a related field
- Intend to pursue a career as a practitioner in areas related to environmental risks and human security
