Scholarship Details
The OID Seyi Makinde Annual Essay Competition is an initiative of the Omituntun Initiative in Diaspora, inspired by the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde to invest in youth empowerment and inclusive growth in Oyo State.
The 2025 competition calls on bright minds and change-driven students to contribute essays centered on key developmental themes such as leadership, innovation, climate resilience, and youth participation in governance. The contest not only rewards exceptional writers with cash prizes but also provides educational scholarships and certification through a leadership training program for the top 50 contestants.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the OID Seyi Makinde Essay Competition, applicants must:
- Be a resident or indigene of Oyo State
- Be currently enrolled as a student in a recognized Nigerian institution
- Be between the ages of 18 and 35
Scholarship Benefits
Successful participants in the OID Seyi Makinde Essay Competition 2025 will receive:
- ₦1,000,000 – First Prize
- ₦500,000 – Second Prize
- ₦250,000 – Third Prize
- Top 50 Finalists: Leadership Academy Training Scholarship + OID Global Participation Certificate
