Osun State to Host Africa’s First AI University as Governor Adeleke Lays Foundation in Modakeke

In a historic development, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has laid the foundation for Africa’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) University, to be sited in Modakeke. The proposed institution, named Curators University, will offer a wide range of cutting-edge academic programs focused on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

The university’s curriculum is expected to span several key disciplines including Machine Learning Specialisation, Computer Hardware Engineering, Data Analytics, Database Administration, 3D Printing, Polymer Science, and Arbitration and Conflict Resolution, among others.

Governor Adeleke, represented at the event by the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, emphasized that the project aligns perfectly with his administration’s five-point agenda, particularly in the areas of educational advancement and youth empowerment.

“The establishment of this university here in Modakeke is a landmark achievement and reflects our commitment to revitalizing the education sector,” the Governor stated. “I urge all stakeholders to ensure that Curators University becomes one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions, not just in academics, but also in character and culture.”

The foundation-laying ceremony was graced by dignitaries including the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Joseph Toriola.

Speaking on the vision behind the university, the founder, Mr. Olusola Amusan, highlighted the vital role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in driving innovation and development in the education sector.

“There are education endowment funds available from the federal government, and in terms of student loans and grants, it’s clear that collaboration between the government and private sector is essential for delivering world-class education,” Amusan said. “We believe this institution can not only support Nigeria’s development but also stimulate economic growth in Modakeke and the wider Osun State.”

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the University’s Planning Committee, Barrister Abimbola Amusan, described Curators University as a global academic and innovation hub designed to empower youth, create employment, and drive economic progress for generations to come.
