The position provides intensive field and analytical training in wildlife ecology, with a focus on movement patterns, habitat usage, and ecological interactions of waterfowl species in a coastal setting.
Eligibility Criteria
To be qualified for the University of Rhode Island Graduate Scholarship 2025, applicants must:
- Be a hard-working, motivated, intelligent, and good-natured individual interested in waterfowl ecology and movements
- Have completed a bachelor’s degree in animal/wildlife biology, ecology, or a related field
- Have earned a minimum 3.2 GPA in previous academic studies
- Possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Have prior field experience with waterfowl capture, handling, and the operation of boats (highly desirable)
- Have experience with quantitative analysis and field-based research
- For PhD applicants: Must preferably have a completed M.Sc. degree. Those with only a BSc must have exceptional field experience to be considered
- For M.Sc. applicants: Must have strong and relevant field experience
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate and supervise research assistants and undergraduate students in the field
Scholarship Benefits
Successful applicants of the University of Rhode Island Graduate Scholarship 2025 will receive:
- A stipend of approximately $25,000 per academic year (based on assistantship level)

- A flexible start date of either January 2026 or September 2026
