Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the University of Sydney Cooke and Alfred Godfrey Scholarship 2026, applicants must:
- Hold an unconditional offer of admission for full-time study in one of the following programs at the Sydney Law School:
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Master of Laws (LLM) by Research
- Master of Criminology (MCrim) by Research
- Be prepared to carry out legal research at the Sydney Law School
- Possess one of the following academic qualifications in law:
- A first-class or second-class upper honours degree or equivalent
- A master’s degree by research
- A master’s degree by coursework with a High Distinction or Distinction and a research component equivalent to 25% of a full academic year
- A law degree supported by relevant research or professional experience considered equivalent to a first-class honours degree
Note: Preference is given to newly commencing students, but the scholarship may also be awarded to current full-time students (PhD, LLM by Research, or MCrim by Research) who can demonstrate strong academic progress and outstanding research outcomes.
